Tulane picked up its second sweep in as many weekends, as Emerson Gibbs held Furman to two hits while striking out nine in a complete-game shutout in an 8-0 win on Sunday at Turchin Stadium.

Tulane (11-5) got rolling in the third, when Cade Edwards brought Jarret DeHart home on a groundout.

Grant Witherspoon hit his first-career homer in the fourth, followed by home runs in the sixth by Hunter Hope and Matt Braud to stretch the lead to 4-0.

The Green Wave closed out the win over Furman (7-8) with a four-run seventh inning.

Gibbs (1-1) walked one batter to get the victory.

Jake Crawford (0-1) gave up six hits, four earned runs, three walks and struck out six in six innings to take the loss.

SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA 4-9, INCARNATE WORD 2-0: In Hammond, Southeastern swept a Southland Conference doubleheader from Incarnate Word at Alumni Field.

Southeastern (10-6, 3-0 Southland) jumped in front quickly in the first game, scoring a pair of first-inning runs. The Lions smashed four extra-base hits, including Jameson Fisher’s fifth home run of the season.

Payton Robinson (1-0) earned the win with three perfect innings of relief. He entered the game in the fifth with runners on the corners and no outs, working out of the jam without allowing a run.

Drew Avans and Derrick Mount each worked a scoreless inning in relief, with Mount earning his second save of the season.

In the second game, the Lions chased UIW (3-12, 0-3 Southland) starter Tyler Lesley (2-2) in the fourth inning as they coasted to a doubleheader and series sweep

Domenick Carlini (2-0) earned the win, scattering three hits in six shutout innings.
