EUNICE - Every player on the Baton Rouge Community College women’s basketball team scored as the Bears notched an 81-58 victory over Pennsylvania-based Harcum Community College Thursday night.

The game helped kick off a three-day tournament at LSU-Eunice.

BRCC coach Paula Lee said her team used its defense to get its offense rolling. It was the fourth straight win for the Bears (4-1). Harcum is 0-2.

“Offensively, we still have a ways to go,” Lee said. “But our defense tonight was good. Our goal was to hold the other team under 60 points, and we did. It (defense) helped generate offense, and I’ll take that.”

Jamera Martin led BRCC with 13 points, six rebounds and three steals. Bunny Scott had eight assists.

Taliah Robertson finished nine points, while three players - Rhondalon Popularas, Jacqueisha Spears and Ke’re St. John - each added eight points for BRCC.

The Bears return to Eunice on Friday to play LSUE at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, BRCC closes out the tournament with a 2 p.m. game against Texas-based Southwest Christian Community College.
