NEW ORLEANS — East Carolina has accepted an invitation to meet Louisiana-Lafayette in the New Orleans Bowl.

The invitation went out to the Pirates (8-4, 7-1 Conference USA) after Tulsa’s overtime victory over Central Florida in the Conference USA title game Saturday. East Carolina has won five of its last six games, but lost out in tiebreaker with Central Florida for Conference USA’s East Division crown.

The Ragin’ Cajuns (7-4, 5-2 Sun Belt Conference) are the defending New Orleans Bowl winners and clinched a second straight eight-win season with a 35-21 victory at Florida Atlantic in their regular-season finale Saturday.

Louisiana-Lafayette accepted its bowl invitation after beating South Alabama last week.

The New Orleans Bowl will kick off at 11 a.m. Dec. 22 in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
