DALLAS — Kolby Morgan scored 21 points, going 4-for-8 from 3-point range, to pace the Tulane women’s basketball team to a 54-42 win over SMU in American Athletic Conference play Wednesday night.

Morgan, the only Green Wave player in double figures, also had seven rebounds, four steals and two blocked shots. Leslie Vorpahl added nine points, five assists and two blocked shots. Chinwe Duru had five blocked shots and nine rebounds to go with her eight points for Tulane (14-5, 5-2).

SMU (8-9, 3-3) was led by Alicia Froling, who scored 10 points and had 14 rebounds. McKenzie Adams added 12 points.

NICHOLLS STATE 70, NORTHWESTERN STATE 61: In Thibodaux, the Colonels sank 14 3-pointers to match its program record, and Taylor Morrison scored a career-high 18 points at Stopher Gym.

The win was the third consecutive for the Colonels (6-10, 4-2 Southland).

Morrison led the outside assault as she hit 5-of-9 from 3-point range. LiAnn McCarthy was 4-of-7 from long range and scored 16 points. Hope Pawlowski (12 points) and Tia Charles each and two 3-pointers, and Airi Hamilton added one.

Northwestern State (11-7, 5-2) was led by Janelle Perez, who scored 15 points and had eight rebounds. Beatrice Attura added 12 points on four 3-pointers, and Emerald Mayfield had 11 points and six rebounds for the Lady Demons, who had won eight of its past nine games.
