HAMMOND — Defending Southland Conference champion Southeastern Louisiana reports to campus Sunday.

The Lions, picked in the top three FCS teams nationally in multiple preseason publications, return 15 preseason All-Southland Conference players from last season’s team that advanced to the quarterfinals in the FCS playoffs. Walter Payton Award candidate and Southeastern senior quarterback Bryan Bennett leads the offense, while junior defensive back Harlan Miller, a Buck Buchanan Award candidate, is among the leaders of a deep defense.

Southeastern begins practice at 7 p.m. Monday. Scrimmages scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday and Aug. 16.

Friday will be the first day in full pads for the Lions.

The Lions will open the season at 7 p.m. Aug. 30, hosting Jacksonville at Strawberry Stadium.
