Another Redemptorist coach has found a new home.

Daniel Jewett, who coached the Wolves to a District 6-2A title and a playoff victory in the spring, is the new baseball coach Central Private.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to take over a program that has such a rich tradition,” Jewett said. “I know some of the kids were a little apprehensive at first, but we’ve had some workouts and a metro league game.

“They seem to like some of things I’m trying to implement.”

The move to Central Private puts Jewett on the same coaching staff with football coach-athletic director Joey Sanchez, a Redemptorist alumnus and a longtime coach at the school. Sanchez also served as Zachary’s athletic director.

Jewett said about 10 players from his last Redemptorist team are set to enroll at Central Private. He replaces Jason Kinchen, who resigned in the spring.
