Reggie Hayes’ 37-yard touchdown pass to Jacob Ruffin with under two minutes remaining in the game proved to be the game winner as Parkview Baptist (10-3) defeated St. Thomas More, 24-21 in the Louisiana Division II state championship game Friday night.

Down 21-17, Hayes drove the Eagles down the field and connected with Ruffin on a short pass which the senior wide receiver raced all the way to the end zone for the lead.

A late interception by Caleb Meaux of St .Thomas More quarterback William Bellamy sealed the victory for the Eagles.

St. Thomas More (10-3) had taken a 21-17 lead when William Bellamy connected with Gabe LeBouef for a 37-yard touchdown pass.

Down 17-14, the Cougars drove 91 yards in eight plays, culminating with Bellamy’s game-winning touchdown pass to LeBouef.

Parkview Baptist running back Connor Joffrion’s two-yard had given Parkview Baptist (9-4) a 17-14 lead.
