THIBODAUX – Nicholls State University football head coach Charlie Stubbs announced the signing of two addition student-athletes, Chris Bordelon (White Castle, La.) and Jarrot Thomas (Baton Rouge), for the 2012 recruiting class.
With the signing of Bordelon and Thomas, the Colonels' 2012 class now stands at 16 after Coach Stubbs inked 14 student-athletes on Signing Day. Of the 16 recruits, 10 hail from Louisiana.
Bordelon, a 6-2/250 offensive lineman, played at St. John High School where he earned second-team all-state honors as a senior. Bordelon anchored the offensive line at center for two years, earning all-district in both seasons. While at St. John, he also played baseball, participated in track and field team and was a member of the Science Olympiad team.
Thomas (6-2/225) was a four-year starter, including two seasons at linebacker, for Southern Lab and was named all-state twice. For his career, Thomas garnered first-team all-district in each of his four seasons. As a senior, he recorded 96 tackles, nine sacks, recovered a fumble for a touchdown and had three interceptions, including returning one for 98 yards. Thomas, who is an honor roll student, also played baseball for the Kittens, earning all-district as a sophomore.
The Colonels will begin spring practice on March 21. The complete schedule will be released on a later date.
