MORGAN CITY — John Michael Besse ran for two scores and Donald “T-Jun” Doucet passed for one touchdown and ran for another as Rayne, the ninth-ranked team in Class 4A, improved to 5-1 with a 39-14 nondistrict win Friday night.

Besse scored on runs of 18 and 3 yards while Doucet ran for a 1-yard touchdown and threw a 22-yard scoring pass to Trevon Fontenot. Rayne’s Deontry Wilridge, who led all rushers with 132 yards on 13 carries, also scored on a 45-yard run.

Jacolbi Francis scored on a 21-yard run and Kevon Marsh ran a kickoff back 78 yards for Morgan City (2-4).

CATHOLIC–NI 63, JEANERETTE 0: In New Iberia, Andre Bellefontaine ran for five touchdowns as Catholic High of New Iberia, the second-ranked team in Class 2A, improved to 6-0 for the season with its opening win in District 5-2A play.

Bellefontaine scored on runs of 62, 18, 4, 33 and 28 yards as Catholic (6-0, 1-0) scored all 63 points in the first three quarters. Jason Pellerin threw a 32-yard scoring pass to Seth Pierre, an 82-yard TD pass to Bennet Pecot and ran for a 22-yard score as Catholic racked up 451 yards of offense while holding Jeanerette (2-4, 0-1) to 175.

VERMILION CATHOLIC 48, GUEYDAN 0: In Gueydan, Hunter Frith tossed four touchdown passes and Tyler Derouen scored three as Vermilion Catholic, the third-ranked team in Class 3A, shut out Gueydan in District 7-1A play.

Frith, who completed 15 of 25 passes for 235 yards, threw 11- and 32-yard scoring passes to Emile Trahan and 25 and 53-yard TD passes to Derouen. Derouen also scored on a 51-yard run as the Eagles amassed 369 yards of offense while holding Gueydan to 153.

Vermilion Catholic improved to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in district while Gueydan dropped to 0-6 and 0-2.

CHURCH POINT 55, PINE PRAIRIE 6: In Church Point, Christian Veronie ran for three touchdowns and Deion Monroe added two as Church Point (6-0), the seventh-ranked team in Class 3A, opened District 5-3A play with a resounding win over Pine Prairie (3-3, 0-1).

Veronie, who finished with 94 yards on nine carries, scored on a 23-yard run and a pair of 1-yard runs Monroe scored on 10 and 3-yard runs. Frederick Williams also scored on a 45-yard punt return for the Bears.

Pine Prairie’s only touchdown came on a 91-yard TD pass from Dylan Doucet to Allen Myles.

DELCAMBRE 22, WESTMINSTER 7: Delcambre’s offense only scored once but its special teams and defense picked up the slack as the Panthers evened its record at 3-3 and opened District 5-2A with the win.

Bubba Latiolais, who ran for 108 yards on 16 carries, opened the scoring for Delcambre with a 30-yard run. Travis Peltier put the Panthers up 15-0 when he returned a punt 78 yards for a score and threw a pass to Brayton Broussard for the two-point conversion.

Westminster (0-6, 0-1) cut the lead to 15-7 on a 12-yard TD pass from Richard Hebert to Jonah Manuel.

Delcambre’s Zack Frederick ensured the win when he scooped up a WCA fumble and ran it back 26 yards for the final touchdown.

NOTRE DAME 58, WEST. ST. MARY 0: In Crowley, Brad Stoma threw four touchdown passes as the ninth-ranked Notre Dame (4-2) opened District 6-3A play with a convincing win over West St. Mary (0-6, 0-1).

Stoma threw scoring strikes of 5 and 7 yards to Hunter Miller and 25 and 6-yard TD passes to Alex Thomas. Damon Comeaux, Sam Hoffpauir and Adam Jackson also scored on runs for the Pioneers while Hayden Bourgeois intercepted a pass and ran in back 25 yards for a touchdown.

LIVONIA 47, NORTHWEST 13: In Livonia, C.J. Powell ran for three touchdowns and passed for another as Livonia (5-0, 1-0) opened District 5-3A play with a win over Northwest (1-5, 0-1).

Powell scored on runs of 25, 38 and 33 Yards and threw a 41-yard scoring pass to Stephen Guidry. He finished with 143 yards rushing and 79 yard passing.

Mathew Ledeaux scored runs of 6 and 5 yards for Northwest.

IOWA 44, IOTA 6: In Iowa, Koby Buquet passed for two touchdowns as Iowa put up 32 points in the first half and cruised to the easy victory. Colinje Wildridge, DuJuan Rigmaiden and Johavon London also scored for Iowa. Andre Sam ran back the second-half kickoff 87 yards.

Kalib Guillory scored the Iota touchdown on a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter.

ST. EDMUND 30, CATHOLIC-POINTE COUPEE 14: In New Roads, Drew Brown passed for 300 yards and four touchdowns as St. Edmund (2-4) opened District 5-1A play with a win over Catholic High of Pointe Coupee.

Brown tossed 78 and 18-yard scoring passes to Cullen Brown, a 30-yarder to Drake Brunet and a 9-yard TD pass to Alex Hunt.

Jonas Guichet scored on a 25-yard run and threw a 15-yard scoring pass to Gabe Vandergrift for Catholic High of Pointe Coupee (3-3, 0-1).

OAKDALE 34, BUNKIE 14: In Oakdale, Mason Jordan threw a 56-yard scoring pass to Darion Dunn and scored on a 3-yard run as scored all 34 points in the first three quarters. Bobby Murray added a 15-yard scoring run and Kourtlyn Monette had a 1-yard TD run for Oakdale. Gabe Weldon also scored on a 10-yard interception return.

Anthony Barone had a 1-yard scoring run and Trevor Tessler ran for a 2-yard score for Bunkie.
