The Scotlandville boys basketball posted a pair of wins at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Prep Classic tournament on Thursday at the Alario Center in Westwego o.

In the Hornets’ first game, they defeated Richwood 53-28 and in the second game they beat Salmen 57-33.

In the win over Richmond, JaVonte Smart led Scotlandville with 23 points, and Garrick Green added 10. Joseph Smith led Richwood with seven.

Jordan Adebutu’s 20 points paced Scotlandville against Salment. Malik Williams added 14. John Norvel led Salmen with 19.

On Friday, Scotlandville will square off in a semifinal against Karr at 8:30 p.m., while Landry-Walker and Riverside will meet in the other semifinal at 7 p.m.

In another game involving a local team, Landry-Walker beat University High 67-61.

Lamar Peters led Landry-Walker with 32 points, including 10 3-pointers

U-High was led by Wayde Sims with 26 points and Jalen Johnson with 21 points.

RIVERSIDE 65, LAFAYETTE CHRISTIAN 61: Jared Butler poured in 29 points, all in the first three quarters, and Riverside held on late to beat Lafayette Christian.

Butler, a sophomore, knocked down six 3-pointers in the game. He exploded for 16 points in the second quarter, including three straight 3-pointers to start the period and then a 3-point play.

Riverside, seeking its third Sugar Bowl tournament championship in four years.

, advances to Friday’s 7 p.m. semifinals to play the winner of Thursday’s late game between Landry-Walker and University High.

Herb McGee added 14 points for the Rebels.

In the process, Riverside snapped Lafayette’ Christian’s 10-game winning streak. The Knights’ only other loss this season came against Scotlandville.

Karr 55, Tift County (Ga.) 38: Devin Edinburgh scored 10 points to lead the Cougars’ balanced attack.

Vincent Phillips and Marc Bowie scored nine points each for Karr.

The Cougars (12-7), ranked No. 7 in The New Orleans Advocate’s Large School Super 10, will play in the semifinals at 8:30 p.m. Friday against the winner of Thursday’s late game between Scotlandville and Salmen.

Girls

CABRINI 47, RICHWOOD 45: Rakell Spencer scored 22 points to lead Cabrini to a victory over Richwood in the platinum bracket Sugar Bowl Prep Classic.

Spencer, a Texas A&M signee, also grabbed 11 rebounds and five blocks for the Crescents (10-6).

Kelsey Punear chipped in 15 points and Rayven Patin had nine assists.

Cabrini advances to play Karr at 7 p.m. Friday.

It will be the third game of the season between the two teams ranked in The New Orleans Advocate Super 10.

No. 5 Karr won the first meeting and No. 4 Cabrini won the second one.

Natchitoches Central 46, JOHN Curtis 41: Nathitoches Central beat Curtis in the opening round and advances to play the Fair Park-St. Thomas winner on at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
