The Louisiana High School Athletic Association and the Louisiana High School Sports Hall of Fame have approved a new format for Hall of Fame basketball games in 2011.
Instead of playing late in the season, Hall of Fame games will now be played before the regular season starts.
Schools must apply to host the games and must pay a sanctioning fee. The sanctioning fee of $75 per team or $150 per school with a boys and girls team can be taken out of the gate receipts. That allows the teams to split the remaining gate receipts.
Hall of Fame games must be approved 14 days in advance or a $50 late fee will be charged.
Teams will be limited to one Hall of Fame game each year. The game will not count in a team’s won-loss record. Schools participating in a Hall of Fame game that is not sanctioned will be fined $500.
An application to sanction Hall of Fame basketball games can be found on the LHSAA website under the heading forms and downloads. Or use the following link: http://lhsaa.org/uploads/forms/pdf/Application_to_Sanction_HOF_Game_of1.pdf.
