HAMMOND — Second-seeded Mount Carmel Academy erased a seven-point deficit with a 28-1 second-half run. The net result – the Cubs rolled off a 68-48 victory over No. 3 Natchitoches Central in a Class 5A semifinal game at the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Girls Top 28 basketball tournament Tuesday night.

Paige Franckiewicz scored a game-high 21 points, making 8 of 11 shots from the field, including five 3-pointers for the Cubs (28-6). Ellie Holzman added 18 points and Megan Donaldson contributed 11 in the game played at SLU’s University Center.

Kierra Brimzy and Jolie Williams each had 14 for Natchitoches Central (26-8).
