JENNINGS — Backup quarterback Louis Conerly and running backs Preston Russ and Austin Mitchell helped Plaquemine High forge a 49-47 road victory over Jennings in a battle of ranked teams from different classifications Friday night.

The fifth-ranked Green Devils (4-0) of Class 4A got 149 yards on 10 carries from Mitchell, who had the game’s first big play, an 85-yard touchdown run. Russ added 133 yards on 13 carries, while Conerly subbed for starter D’Morea Wicks by throwing two TD passes to Joe Keller and also rushing for 51 yards on nine carries.

Jennings (3-1), ranked third in Class 3A, got a game-high 169 yards on 13 carries from Lemontray Mouton, who scored three TDs. Kaleb Chaisson completed 9 of 11 passes for 127 yards for JHS.

TARA 36, GLEN OAKS 20: JuJuonte Brown threw a 12-yard TD pass to James Owens and ran in a 1-yard TD for the Trojans (2-2).

Josh McCoy ran back a punt 70 yards and Leonard Williams added a 10-yard TD run. Eddie Harris scored on runs of 15 and 20 yards, and completed a 35-yard pass for a touchdown for Glen Oaks (0-4).

NORTHEAST 50, EAST IBERVILLE 0: In Pride, unbeaten Northeast (4-0) scored three first-quarter TDs and cruised to 4-0 record.

Dominick Yates ran in TDs of 34 and 12 yards for the Vikings, and Jaquez Wade added a 72-yard punt return. Northeast converted six two-point conversions and added a safety in the first quarter. Jarmon Bradford, Ramon Parker, Tyriq Kelly all pitched in TDs for Northeast. Jordan McKay ran 131 yards on 14 carries to lead EIHS (0-4)

EAST FELICIANA 44, DUNHAM 19: In Clinton, five players scored TDs for East Feliciana (2-2, 1-0) led by Leslie Taylor, who scored on 41-yard run and 55-yard kick return, in the District 6-2A opener.

Big plays were the norm for the Tigers, who had five scoring plays that covered 38 yards or longer. Chase Day finished with 236 all-purpose yards and scored three TDs to lead Dunham (1-3, 0-1). Jyron Walker completed 20 of 25 passes for the Tigers.

NORTHLAKE CHRISTIAN 26, SPRINGFIELD 21: Miguel Black had 216 rushing yards and two TDs, a TD catch and an interception to lead Northlake Christian to a huge District 7-2A win. Black scored on runs of 74 and 60 yards and caught a 9-yard scoring pass from Matt Whelan. Whelan also threw scoring passes of 52 yards to Zack Odenwald and 3 yards to Adam Riche as Northlake Christian, the ninth-ranked team in Class 2A improved to 4-0, 1-0. Springfield is 3-1.

WHITE CASTLE 30, WESTMINSTER CHRISTIAN 13: White Castle’s success on the ground helped the Bulldogs improve their record to 3-1.

In the first quarter, Chris Major returned a punt 85 yards. In the fourth, Dontrell Taylor ran 87 yards for a TD. Richard Hebert scored Westminster’s first TD, and the following PAT kick, in the first quarter and Noah Launey added a 10-yard TD as time expired in the fourth. Noah Launey rushed 114 yards for Westminster (0-4), and Taylor rushed 103 yards for White Castle.

AMITE 41, BELAIRE 0: Amite posted its second shutout as Devarious Henderson passed for three touchdowns, while Devin Head ran for two TDs and Milton Sanders added a 95-yard TD run.

Henderson completed 6-of-10 passes, all in the first half, for 151 yards and hit three different receivers for the scores. The Warriors (3-1) finished with 282 yards on the ground.

The Amite defense limited Belaire (1-3) to 150 yards, Fred Ramsey ran for 113 yards on 18 carries, while Tyler Woods was 6-of-14 passing for 38 yards for BHS.

CATHOLIC-POINTE COUPEE 42, DELCAMBRE 21: After trailing Delcambre 21-14 in the third quarter, Catholic-PC scored 28 unanswered points Thursday night. In the fourth quarter, Jacob Juge caught 94-yard and 44-yard TD passes from Guichet, who finished with 14-of-19 completed passes for 274 yards and four touchdowns. Juge had 169 yards on three receptions.

CENTRAL PRIVATE 34, WILKINSON COUNTY CHRISTIAN 18: Central Private jumped out to a 34-6 halftime lead and held on for its second win of the season. Johnny Duncan rushed for 120 yards and two TDs on 25 carries for the Rebels (2-4), and Austin Slater contributed an 86-yard kick off return. CPS QB Trenton Guay completed 3-of-5 passes for 57 yards and rushed 81 yards on 9 attempts for two total TDs. Wilkinson County Christian fell to 1-5.

ASSUMPTION 35, COVENANT CHRISTIAN 14: Dontrez Wiggins ran 132 yards and three TDs for the Mustangs.

AHS jumped out to a 14-0 lead before Covenant Christian’s Devyn Allen ran in a 21-yard touchdown to bring the Lions within seven.

In the third quarter, Melvin Young caught an 11-yard TD pass from Daron Williams and Jordan Bell returned a fumble 20 yards for a TD to bring the Mustangs’ lead to 21. Callan Bourg rushed two yards to score for Covenant Christian in the third quarter.
