LAKE CHARLES — Bossier sent a packed Burton Coliseum home disappointed Saturday night as it defeated hometown favorite Washington-Marion 42-39 in Class 4A at the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Boys Top 28 tournament..

After trailing 25-21 at halftime, the Bearkats (27-10) shut down Washington-Marion (22-9) defensively, allowing the Chargin’ Indians to score three points and tying the game at 28 going into the fourth quarter.

Bossier scored the first six points of the fourth quarter and held off a Washington-Marion comeback.

The Chargin’ Indians had a chance to tie the game with a 3-pointer in the final seconds, but the shot never hit the rim, and Bossier grabbed the rebound and ran out the clock.

Larry Robinson was named the game’s most outstanding player after posting a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Tyrese English led the Bearkats in scoring with 14 points. Cody Stansbury was Washington-Marion’s leading scorer with 11 points, including 3-of-5 from the 3-point line. DeMarcus Vital added 10.
