The senior running back rushed for a career-high 248 yards (on 31 carries) and three touchdowns in the Crusaders’ 49-28 victory over Patterson.

“I really didn’t know I had that many at first,” West said. “I as just playing the game. I just thank my offensive line for opening the holes for me.”

West has verbally committed to play at Northern Colorado.

Brother Martin (1-0) will play John Ehret on Saturday at Tad Gormley Stadium at 2:30 p.m.

The senior helped the Patriots to a season opening victory over Fontainebleau and Chalmette, both ranked in The New Orleans Advocate volleyball rankings, as well as Karr and Lake Area.

Bell averaged 10.5 kills per game in the four victories. She finished the week with 45 kills, 12 aces, 20 digs and three blocks.

“What stands out the most about this team is we feed off momentum, and we always fight back,” Bell said.

Curtis will play Central Catholic on Tuesday and St. Thomas Aquinas on Thursday.
