LUTCHER — St. Amant High outlasted Lutcher High in a shootout, claiming a 31-28 nondistrict road victory Friday night.

Both teams totaled 400-plus yards and the lead changed four times in the game.

Tyler Dixon completed 20 of 26 passes for 241 yards and two touchdowns for Class 5A St. Amant (3-1), one to Ethan Babin and the other Briggs Bourgeois, who caught three passes for 104 yards and added a field goal and three PAT kicks for the Gators in their third straight win.

Jontre Kirklin completed 16 of 36 passes for 313 yards and four TDs along with 88 rushing yards on 21 attempts for Lutcher (3-1). Gregory Clayton caught three passes for 140 yards and one TD for the Bulldogs.

St. Amant’s Nathan Taylor rushed for two TDs in the fourth quarter to put the Gators up 10 before Clayton and Kirklin connected on a 63-yard TD to pull within three.

ST. MICHAEL 23, LORANGER 14: St. Michael (4-0) rallied during the final nine minutes of the game to remain unbeaten in nondistrict action.

The Warriors fell behind 14-3 in the first half with A.J. Fletcher’s 47-yard field goal providing the only points. SMHS scored 20 points during its final surge. Logan Knox scored on a 6-yard, while Fletcher and Jeffrey Vaccaro each scored on 1-yard runs for the winners.

PARKVIEW BAPTIST 41, BAKER 20: In Baker, seventh-ranked Parkview (3-1, 1-0) jumped out to a 34-0 halftime lead en route to its third straight win and a victory in a District 7-3A opener.

Parkview compiled 387 rushing yards, and each Eagles TD was a rushing score. Kayin White, Houston Robert and Reggie Hayes Jr. each had two of Parkview’s six TDs.

The Buffaloes (2-2, 0-1) finished with two long-distance TDs from Nicholas Martin. Martin sprinted 70 yards for the first and 64 yards for the second. Baker had with 161 yards rushing and 84 passing.

LIVONIA 56, MORGAN CITY 27: Ninth-ranked Livonia (3-0) of Class 3A scored 49 points in the first half and cruised to a win over 4A Morgan City.

Malcolm Dedrick rushed for 127 yards on 14 attempts and contributed five TDs, all in the first half, for LHS.

Wildcats QB Cee Jay Powell completed 8-of-10 passes for 93 yards and rushed for 89 yards. He threw two TD passes and ran for one. Receiver Jaylen Jones had two TD receptions and returned a kick 78 yards for a touchdown for Morgan City (1-3).

CAPITOL 19, REDEMPTORIST 14: Capitol (2-2, 1-0) won its District 6-2A opener, thanks to a 7-yard TD run by Chris Duhon with 20 seconds left in the game played at RHS.

The Lions took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, but the game was quiet on both sides until the fourth period. Capitol’s Ronald Sims brought the game back to life with a 15-yard run to give the Lions a 13-0 lead. Redemptorist (0-4, 0-1) got its first points on a 2-yard run by quarterback Michael Williams. Redemptorist took a 14-13 lead after Kaleb Battle’s 12-yard run.

ASCENSION CATHOLIC 55, FALSE RIVER 6: In New Roads, the Bulldogs scored 48 first-half points and are 4-0 for the first time since 1989.

Zyshawn Richard led Ascension Catholic with 74 yards on four carries, while Kaleb Winchester had five carries for 66 yards with a TD, and Patrick Butler added four carries for 65 yards and three TDs. ACHS’ Jaquel Wade ran for two scores.

SOUTHERN LAB 28, DONALDSONVILLE 26: The Class 1A Kittens (1-3) got their first win of the season over the 3A Tigers.

Donaldsonville’s Tyler Brown threw 329 yards on 20-of-45 passing. Brown finished with four touchdowns and 28 rushing yards.

For Donaldsonville (2-2), Jaquel Gant caught seven passes for 126 yards and a TD; Jamal Dunn caught five passes for 97 yards and a TD.

MADISON PREP 54, ASCENSION CHRISTIAN 0: Madison Prep (3-1) recorded its third shutout.

MPA, which scored 30 points in the first quarter, led 46-0 at halftime.

Edwin Kleinpeter threw two TDs passes and four 2-point conversion passes, and Charrod Brumfield contributed a TD pass and rushing TD. Quincy Banks had 44-yard and 51-yard TDs for the Chargers.

The Chargers tallied 234 rushing yards on 15 attempts and completed 5-of-6 passes for 89 passing yards. Madison Prep held Ascension Christian (2-2) to negative-18 yards rushing and 54 passing yards in the 1A matchup.

CHEF 22, PORTER’S CHAPEL ACADEMY 21: Spencer Costa sealed the Patriots win with an interception with 1:08 left in the game. Tyler Dixon had 82 yards on 15 carries and a 29-yard TD for Christian Home Educator’s Fellowship.

Arek Moslander completed 2-of-7 passes for 63 yards and two TDs and ran in two 2-point conversions. Brothers Timothy and Ethan Costa caught Moslander’s TD passes.
