Eric Coston, St. Paul’s

The reigning Class 5A cross country champion, Coston has had a strong start to the 2014 season. The St. Paul’s sophomore finished second in the St. Michael Bayou Boogie Classic held Sept. 6 in Baton Rouge with a 3-mile time of 15 minutes, 14.06 seconds. He followed with a win in the Episcopal (BR) Round Table Run on Sept. 13 with a time of 15:09.50. That pace was nearly 40 seconds faster than the second-place finisher in the Episcopal meet.


Chris Simmons, Jesuit

Simmons, a senior, won three events at the Greater New Orleans Metro Swim League High School Kickoff Meet held Sept. 6 at UNO. Simmons won the 50-yard freestyle (21.76 seconds,) the 100-yard freestyle (48.66) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:53:33.).

Simmons’ effort helped spark the Blue Jays to a dominant team title (Jesuit scored 425 points, with their closest competitors totaling 173 points.)
