One obstacle that opponents can’t crack is perfection. And that’s what Massey provided while helping the Bears to a Class 5A runner-up finish. The Tulane signee was 11-0, including a win in the semifinals. He had a 1.19 ERA with 67 strikeouts, and opponents batted just .119 against him. Massey also played in the outfield and hit .321.




It was a record-setting year for Bass’ Bears, who won the District 5-5A title en route to a state runner-up finish. By compiling a 37-4 record, Catholic set a school record for victories in a season.

The ace of the Zachary staff finished 8-3 with a 1.82 ERA and 50 strikeouts.

Dillon Abbess/Dutchtown, Sr.

Made the most of 10 appearances for DHS with a 6-2 mark, a 1.17 ERA and 80 strikeouts.

Bailey Holstein/Denham Springs, Sr.

Led DSHS to the 5A quarterfinals with a 9-1 record, 1.41 ERA and 57 strikeouts.


EVAN PACE/Zachary, Sr.

Versatile leader hit .485 with six home runs and 40 RBIs. He threw out 18 baserunners.


Adam Sevario/St. Amant, Jr.

Helped SAHS to the 5A playoffs with a .459 average, nine doubles and 21 RBIs.

JOSH SMITH/Catholic, Jr.

Was a force for the Bears, batting .448 with 38 RBIs to go with a .945 fielding percentage.

Christopher Reid/St. Michael, Sr.

Powered the Warriors to the 4A semifinals with a .416 average, 30 runs and 19 RBIs.

Lenni Kunert/Live Oak, Sr.

The four-year starter batted .485 with 10 doubles, 35 runs scored and 24 RBIs.


Travis Swaggerty/Denham Springs, Sr.

The Yellow Jackets’ top hitter batted .451 with nine doubles, four triples, 17 RBIs and 15 stolen bases.

Ashton Martin/Denham Springs, Sr.

The leadoff batter finished the season with a .321 batting average and 14 stolen bases.

Justin Duhon/St. Amant, Sr.

Left-fielder had a .394 batting average, eight doubles, four home runs and 31 RBIs.

Simon Prevot/Catholic, Sr.

Batted .363 with four home runs and 34 RBIs along with a 1.000 fielding percentage.


Charles Soileau/Catholic, Sr.

Embraced a major offensive role by batting .415 with 22 RBIs and a .556 on-base percentage.


Joe Keller/Plaquemine, Sr.

Finished 6-3 on the mound and hit .389 with three home runs and 33 RBIs.

Jonathan Lofton/St. Michael, Sr.

Took on many top mound assignments for the 4A semifinalists and was 6-3 with a 2.11 ERA.

Michael Claverie/Live Oak, Sr.

Put together a stellar senior season, batting .435 with seven doubles, two home runs and 32 RBIs.

Micah McHugh/Zachary, Sr.

Did it all: He finished 6-0 on the mound and batted .410 with seven home runs and 47 RBIs.

Brian Fairbanks/Catholic, Jr.

Was 6-1 on the mound, hit .319 with nine doubles and 23 RBIs; had a 1.000 fielding percentage.

Tristan Babin/East Ascension, Sr.

Led the Spartans to the Class 5A playoffs by batting .340 with seven triples, four homers and 35 RBIs.
