EUNICE - David Lafleur accounted for six of St. Edmund’s seven touchdowns in the Blue Jay’s 46-0 win over Opelousas Catholic on Thursday night.
The St. Edmund quarterback rushed for 198 yards and scored four touchdowns, caught a touchdown pass and threw for another to lift the Blue Jays (7-2, 5-1) to the District 6-1A win.
Lafleur scored on runs of 35 and 79 yards and threw a 32-yard scoring pass to Adam Clause in the first quarter to stake St. Edmund to a 21-0 lead. He added a 56-yard TD run and a 15-yard scoring reception from Perry Pitre to give the hosts a 34-0 halftime cushion.
Lafleur’s 7-yard run in the third quarter made it 40-0. A Pitre to Tyler Vidrine 9-yard pass capped the scoring for St. Edmund, which had 483 yards rushing.
Opelousas Catholic (2-7, 1-5) was led by quarterback Evan Wagley, who completed 10 of 27 passes for 116 yards.
