The high school volleyball playoffs continued Wednesday night, and East Ascension High School wasted little time moving on to the next round.

The 14th-seeded Spartans swept past Denham Springs, 25-18, 25-11, 25-5 in a Division I match played in Gonzales.

In other action Wednesday, Brusly ousted Loranger, 3-1.

Candace Carter led EA’s attack with 14 kills. Celeste Finley set the table with 32 assists, while Alicia Gutierrez chipped in 11 kills and 7 digs for the Spartans (31-12).

Denham Springs (21-15) was led by Emily Callendar (13 assists and 8 digs). Mallory Stout added 7 kills, 2 aces and 3 digs for the 19th-seeded Yellow Jackets.

BRUSLY 3, LORANGER 1: In Brusly, the Panthers took a 25-14, 25-16, 18-25, 25-15 victory in Division III play.

Shelby Willis led Brusly (16-15) with 18 kills, 4 aces and 6 digs. Chloe Richard had 10 kills, 3 aces and 9 digs, while Kylie Tolar had a game-high 31 assists to go with 7 digs for the Panthers.

Loranger was led by Raylin Willie with 31 kills and Kellie Sharpe with 14 digs. Katie Eurissa contributed 16 kills for the Wolves.
