The ninth annual Allstate Sugar Bowl Lacrosse Classic, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at Lafreniere Park in Metairie, has been cancelled because of poor field conditions.

The event, hosted by the Friends of New Orleans Lacrosse was expected to attract nearly 50 teams at the varsity, junior varsity and freshman levels, as well as U15, U13 and U11 teams.

Jesuit won last year’s tournament that featured some of the top high school teams from throughout the region.

Any information on rescheduling the tournament will be announced when available, said John Sudsbury, director of communications and media relations for the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
