2. Landry-Walker (26-9)

THE BUZZ: Sophomore Keytaon Thompson rescued Charging Bucs with last-second bucket to give school its second straight 4A title.

3. Salmen (28-6)

THE BUZZ: Spartans earned No. 1 seed in Class 4A, but lost at buzzer and fell short of winning second title and first since 2009.

4. Helen Cox (29-5)

THE BUZZ: Dynamo point guard Marlain Veal helped Cougars earn No. 2 seed and reach Class 5A quarterfinals.

5. Edna Karr (24-9)

THE BUZZ: Cougars were a No. 3 seed in Class 4A, reaching the quarterfinals, where they lost to rival Landry-Walker for a third time.

6. St. Augustine (24-6)

THE BUZZ: Purple Knights won Catholic championship for a second straight season, but were stunned by Carencro in the opening round.

7. McDonogh 35 (23-13)

THE BUZZ: The Roneagles made it to the Top 28 tournament for the first time in school history, losing to Class 4A runner-up Salmen.

8. West Jefferson (23-13)

THE BUZZ: Buccaneers came close to reaching 5A semifinals, but lost to defending state champion Natchitoches 59-55 in quarterfinals.

9. Brother Martin (22-9)

THE BUZZ: Crusaders finished second in the Catholic League and lost 47-46 to West Jefferson in second round of Class 5A playoffs.

10. John Curtis (27-8)

THE BUZZ: Patriots, led by Kai Morgan and RIchard Durant, got hot late and reached the Class 3A state title game.
