The Louisiana High School Athletic Association launched its updated website late last week.
Upgrades made to lhsaa.org are designed to make the site easier to navigate and to increase the amount of information available, according to an LHSAA news release.
“We wanted to update our site to make it easier for administrators, coaches, fans, student-athletes and their parents to find information and stay connected,” LHSAA Executive Director Kenny Henderson said in the news release. “The site will serve as a hub for information on various aspects of high school athletics in the state.?
“With a number of official statements, blogs, and links to the LHSAA social media sites, visitors will be able to turn here for the latest information.”
In addition to forms and usual content, the site will also offer live stream from Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube highlighting LHSAA.
Glen Oaks High has welcomed three coaches who previously coached at other East Baton Rouge Parish Schools.
Michelle Haynes, who most recently coached at Scotlandville High, is on staff to coach volleyball. Willie Williams also comes over from Scotlandville, where he coached football and boys track. Jimmy Taylor, a former head boys basketball coach at Lee High and most recently an assistant at Belaire, is the other addition.
Also, former Capitol High basketball standout Adrian Blake has returned to her alma mater and will serve as head volleyball coach-assistant girls basketball coach.
Gonda back with Bucs
Longtime athletic trainer Tim Gonda is back working at Broadmoor High after taking the 2010-11 school year off while undergoing treatment for cancer.
Gonda was cancer free during a five-month checkup.
Dutchtown High girls soccer player Lindy Robichaux has committed to Samford University located in Birmingham, Ala.
Robichaux was the voted the All-Metro MVP last spring after compiling 17 goals and 19 assists while helping the Griffins win their fifth straight district title.
Zachary Hall of Fame
Zachary High is accepting nominations for its Athletic Hall of Fame. An induction ceremony is planned for Oct. 28 at halftime of a football game against Live Oak High.

CHEF seeks players
The Christian Home Educators Fellowship seeks home-school players ages 13 to 18 to join its 2011 football team.
Registration will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for the next two weeks in the Lanier Baptist Church gymnasium.

Woodlawn High seeks junior varsity football opponents for the first and fourth weeks of the 2011 season. The Panthers need a freshman football opponent during Week 4.

Former Catholic High basketball player Osby Kelly is set to be a team captain for the University of Tampa in 2011-12. Originally a walk-on, Kelly earned a scholarship for her final two seasons.
Kelly, a criminal justice major, played in 27 games last season for Tampa.
•Ex-University High baseball player Philip Miller is now an assistant baseball coach at Sam Houston State.
Miller was an assistant at Northwestern State the past two seasons, serving as a first base coach. He previously served as volunteer coach at SHSU.
