LAFAYETTE — Teurlings Catholic scored nine runs in the first two innings against Livonia on Saturday before rain washed out the second game of the Class 4A second-round playoff best-of-three-series Saturday.

The rain came in the bottom of the second inning with the Rebels up 9-0. Teurlings scored eight runs in the first inning, led by a two-RBI double from Nick Webre.

Teurlings coach Mike Thibodeaux said he was unsure the teams could play Sunday, with heavy rain forecasted in the area. Thibodeaux said the biggest concern is pitching for the next round.

“With LHSAA rules, we can only pitch a kid so many innings per week,” Thibodeaux said. “Hopefully we can get this game in (Sunday).”

In Game 1 Friday, Teurlings won 14-2.
