CENTRAL - The Baton Rouge Patriots and Central Private combined for 40 points in the fourth quarter to cap a wild 42-41 win for the Patriots over the Rebels.
After Demond Singleton scored on a 2-yard run to start the final period, Dominick Hodges added touchdowns on a 28-yard run and an 80-yard interception return to blow the game open.
Hodges also caught a 26-yard TD pass from Darius Moses, who also teamed up with Joseph Reynard for a 30-yard TD strike.
Singleton set the tone for the high-scoring game when he had an 89-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. He piled up 147 yards on 15 carries with the two TDs.
Central Private, a member of the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools, got three touchdowns of 1-yard runs from Luke Fryoux, who also threw a 38-yard scoring strike to Lance Wicker.
CPS (0-2) tried to come back late when Wicker had an 80-yard kickoff return for a score and Ryan Bowman returned a fumble 83 yards for the final TD of the high-scoring contest.
SILLIMAN 50, AMITE SCHOOL CENTER 14: In Clinton, Silliman Institute bounced out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead and rolled to the easy MAIS win.
Colt Ducote had two 1-yard touchdown runs to give the Wildcats the early lead and they coasted to the victory.
Jason Palermo later threw scoring passes to Caleb Blackard (24 yards) and Derek James (4 yards), while Cobb Kelley had a 1-yard TD run and Mason Castellow returned a fumble 8 yards for another score.
Todd Bourgeois ripped off a 68-yard TD run to complete the scoring for Silliman (1-1).
FALSE RIVER JAMBOREE: In New Roads, Nicholas Brooks scored touchdowns on runs of 1 and 42 yards as East Iberville claimed a 12-6 win over False River.
Brooks rushed for 71 yards on eight carries to lead the way for the Tigers, while Brock Rockforte scored the only touchdown for FRA on a 2-yard run in the second half.
TERREBONNE JAMBOREE: In Houma, Trevon Smith threw for a pair of scores to lead South Terrebonne to a 29-6 victory over H.L. Bourgeois.
Smith connected with Dalvin Richardson and James LeBlanc for the passing touchdowns, while Davonte Griffin and Leo Rodriguez scored on the ground for the Gators.
ST. LANDRY KIWANIS JAMBOREE: In Opelousas, Zach Hebert had touchdown runs of 70 and 6 yards to lead Opelousas Catholic to a 13-8 win over Hanson Memorial on Thursday night. Hanson took the early lead on a 2-yard scoring run by Drake Rodriguez and two-point conversion by Kole Fluke before Hebert made his way into the end zone twice.
MADISON PREP 39, BR CHEF ACADEMY 0: Derrick Pate returned punts of 65 and 64 yards for touchdowns and the Chargers had two other scores of 55 yards or longer in walloping CHEF in their season opener.
Johnny Duncan had three carries for 65 yards with a 55-yard TD and quarterback Terrell Dixon, who completed 4 of 4 passes for 175 yards, hit wide receiver Tad Martinez for a 62-yard score.
