Mount Carmel is headed back to the Pontchartrain Center to go for its fourth consecutive state championship.
Sophomore Victoria Frught had 36 assists for the top-seeded Cubs in their 3-0 victory over No. 17 Ponchatoula in the second round of the Division I playoffs.
MCA had little trouble, winning 25-7, 25-9, 25-7.
Ellie Holman had 13 kills and a pair of blocks to help Mount Carmel improve to 36-7.
"I thought we were very crisp today," said April Hagadone, the Cubs' 11th-year coach.
Macie Matherne had 16 digs, and Sofia Conway had seven aces.
Mount Carmel will play Baton Rouge High in the quarterfinals.
Baton Rouge 3, Fontainebleau 2
The No. 8 Bulldogs' season came to an end Saturday in the second round of the playoffs against the No. 9 visitors from Baton Rouge.
Playing in their final game for Fontainebleau were seniors Lauren Larzelere, who had 25 digs; Grace Haile, who added 13 digs; and Madison Arteaga, who collected 11 digs and 17 assists.
Juniors Stephanie Schurr and Samantha Pittari combined for 16 kills and freshman Emily Mathews had six kills and 12 assists.
Baton Rouge, which won 16-25, 25-21, 21-25, 25-21, 15-10, advances to the quarterfinals to take on Mt. Carmel.
Fontainebleau ended its season 25-13.
St. Joseph's 3, Hahnville 0
The Tigers were eliminated after a 25-11, 25-15, 25-13 loss.
Hahnville (24-16) was led by Stephanie Oubre (12 kills, five digs), Brianna Plaisance (eight digs, five kills) and Bailey Roux (18 assists).
“I thought we played OK, but St. Joseph’s is a better team than us,” Hahnville coach Mendi LeBoeuf said. “SJA is big and strong across the front. They force you to do some things with the ball in turning it back that puts you at a disadvantage. This experience of making the regionals for the second straight year can fuel us and help us in the future.”
The Redstickers (28-13) will face the Acadiana-Barbe winner in the quarterfinals.
Chapelle 3, Dutchtown 0
No. 11 Chapelle went on the road and upset No. 6 Dutchtown 25-20, 25-22, 25-21 in the second round of the Division I playoffs.
Chapelle advances to the quarterfinals to play No. 14 St. Amant, which upset No. 3 East Ascension.
Cabrini 3, Lakeshore 0
Kai Williams had 14 kills and Jen Brue had 37 assists to lead the No. 2 Crescents to a 25-15, 25-22, 25-12 victory against the visiting No. 17 Titans in the Division II playoffs.
Cabrini (28-13) advances to the quarterfinals to face No. 7 Ben Franklin.
Atira Jells had 12 kills and four blocks and Endia Buck had 24 digs.
Ben Franklin 3, Terrebonne 1
The No. 7 Falcons advanced to the quarterfinals by holding off No. 10 Terrebonne's upset bid.
Ben Franklin won 26-24, 25-13, 17-25, 25-22 and will play Cabrini in the quarterfinals.
Teurlings Catholic 3, Warren Easton 0
The No. 16 Eagles, making their first trip to the postseason since Hurricane Katrina, fell to top seed Teurlings Catholic in the second round of the Division II playoffs.
Easton lost 25-6, 25-7, 25-14.
Easton beat No. 17 Sam Houston in the first round.
St. Scholastica 3, Live Oak 0
After a first-round bye, the third-seeded St. Scholastica Doves easily defeated Live Oak 25-5, 25-12, 25-9.
Freshman Madison Meyers led the way for the Doves with 11 kills and three digs.
Junior Evey Waguespack had 23 assists, five digs and three aces.
SSA will take on No. 6 South Lafourche on Thursday.
South Lafourche 3, Belle Chasse 2
Belle Chasse, the No. 11 seed, took No. 6 South Lafouche to five sets but couldn't quite pull off the upset.
South Lafourche prevailed 25-27, 25-15, 20-25, 33-31, 15-8 and will play No. 3 St. Scholastica in the quarterfinals.
South Terrebonne 3, AOL 1
The No. 12 Penguins' season came to an end after a 25-12, 25-17, 25-27, 25-14 loss to No. 5 South Terrebonne.
South Terrebonne will play No. 4 Assumption in the quarterfinals.
