Louisiana High School Athletic Association girls basketball quarterfinal action set for Monday features five games in the metro Baton Rouge area.
Top-seeded University High (29-6), of Class 2A, hosts a Livingston Parish team, No. 8 Doyle High (27-6), at 7 p.m. In Class 3A, top-seeded Albany hosts No. 8 Loyola Prep-Shreveport (24-9) at 6:30 p.m.
In 4A, second-seeded St. Michael the Archangel (31-4) hosts No. 7 DeRidder (23-8) at 6 p.m. Second-seeded Baker (23-5), also of 3A, hosts No. 7 E.D. White-Thibodaux (25-5) at 6:30 p.m.
Also set for 6 p.m. at McKinley High School is a Class 1A game that matches No. 11 Southern Lab (18-8) against No. 3 North Central (26-4).
In the New Orleans area, Class 4A top-seeded Warren Easton (32-2) faces No. 8 Helen Cox (26-6) at 6 p.m. at Mount Carmel Academy. Also in 4A, No. 6 Salmen (27-3) travels to Houma to take on No. 3 Vandebilt Catholic (27-4) at 7 p.m.
Meanwhile, one Baton Rouge team is on the road. Class 5A Denham Springs (25-5), seeded fifth, travels to No. 4 West Monroe (28-6) for a 6:30 p.m. contest.
A meeting to select the 2013 Baton Rouge All-Metro boys soccer team is set for 7 p.m. Monday at the Baton Rouge Soccer Association office.

The Advocate is seeking all-district teams for both soccer and basketball. Coaches are asked to submit those teams to Advocate sportswriter Robin Fambrough at firstname.lastname@example.org or by fax to (225) 388-0318 if you have not already done so.
Also, coaches in the Baton Rouge area interested in nominating boys or girls basketball players for the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s all-state basketball teams should submit those to Fambrough using the same procedure.
Players nominated must be first-team all-district selections. Coaches should include the player’s height, grade and statistics, including averages and shooting percentages.
Catholic High tight end Christian Brown has committed to Arkansas-Monticello and is expected to sign within the next few days. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Brown was a second-team All-District 5-5A selection for the Bears in the fall.

- Longtime Denham Springs statistician and supporter Robert Graves has accepted a position as an athletic administrator at Live Oak.
Graves will assist athletic director Brian Hargroder and other coaches at LOHS, which competes in District 4-5A along with DSHS.
