William Bellamy threw for two touchdowns and St. Thomas More pounded out 318 rushing yards to blow away Evangel Christian 56-19 on Friday night.
Bellamy completed 10 of 16 pass for 122 yards, with scoring passes to Tiger Bech and Griffin Hebert.
Trevor Begue gained 101 rushing yards on just five carries and was one of five Cougars to score on the ground.
St. Thomas More, leading 14-6 after the first quarter, scored three touchdowns in the second quarter and took a commanding 35-12 halftime lead.
Evangel got 160 rushing yards and a touchdown from Corey Henderson. Jamarqueza Mims added 75 rushing yards and two touchdowns for the Eagles.
St. Thomas More, the No. 3-ranked team in Class 4A, opens District 5-4A play at Cecilia next week.
RAYNE 28, WASHINGTON-MARION 21: John Michael Besse scored the winning touchdown on a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter as Rayne (4-0), the seventh-ranked team in the latest Class 4A poll, rallied past Washington-Marion.
Besse and Byron Mouton both had 1-yard scoring runs while Deontrey Wilridge added a 13-yard TD run.
Tyler Pete passed for two scores and ran for another to account for all three Washington-Marion touchdowns. He finished with 11 completions in 19 attempts for 175 yards.
CATHOLIC-NEW IBERIA 48, E.D. WHITE 14: In Thibodaux, Jason Pellerin ran for four scores as Catholic-New Iberia, the second-ranked team in the latest Class 2A poll, took the nondistrict win.
Pellerin scored on runs of 4, 12, 5 and 14 yards while Andre Bellefontaine added scoring runs of 4, 6 and 36 yards for CHSNI (4-0).
NOTRE DAME 34, ST. LOUIS 3: In Crowley, Lance Bertrand scored on runs of 2 and 33 yards and Brad Stoma threw a 63-yard scoring pass to Boedy Borill as sixth-ranked Notre Dame (3-1) took the nondistrict win.
Daniel Comeaux added a 27-yard TD run and Dillan Gilbert had a 15-yard run as the Pioneers dominated play from the start of the game.
Thomas O’Dowd kicked a 55-yard field goal for the only score for St. Louis (1-3).
BREAUX BRIDGE 26, WESTGATE 7: Joseph Williams ran a punt back 57 yards and Drake Guidry threw a 50-yard scoring pass to Ruben Hypolite as Breaux Bridge opened District 5-4A play with a convincing win. Guidry added a 3-yard scoring run and Edward Batiste had a 5-yard run for Breaux Bridge (3-1).
Trevor Davis scored on a 75-yard run for the only Westgate score.
CATHOLIC POINTE COUPEE 42, DELCAMBRE 21: In Delcambre Thursday night, Jonas Guichet threw four touchdown passes and ran for a 43-yard score as Catholic High of Pointe Coupee scored 22 points in the fourth quarter to get the win.
Jacob Juge caught 94 and 44-yard bombs in the fourth quarter from Guichet, who also threw a 14-yard scoring pass to Gabe Vandergrift and a 25-yarder to Reed Smith. He finished 14 for 19 for 273 yards.
Zack Frederick scored on a 1-yard run and Seth Esponge caught a 58-yard scoring pass for Delcambre.
