The Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s series of fall sports championships continues this week with cross country in Natchitoches and swimming in Sulphur.
Northwestern State in Natchitoches is the site of the LHSAA State Cross Country Meet set for Monday and Tuesday. The LHSAA State Swim Meet runs Thursday through Saturday at Sulphur’s SPAR Aquatic Center.
Cross country action for boys and girls schools in Class 2A-C begins at 10 a.m. Monday with the Class C boys three-mile race.
Other Monday races include: B boys at 10:45 a.m., C girls at 11:30 a.m., B girls at 12:15 p.m., 1A boys at 1 p.m., 2A boys at 1:45 p.m., 1A girls at 2:30 p.m. and 2A girls at 3:15 p.m.
Competition on Tuesday for Class 5A-3A begins at 11 a.m. with the 3A girls race. The rest of the schedule includes: 4A girls at 11:45 a.m., 5A girls at 12:30 p.m., 3A boys at 1:15 p.m., 4A boys at 2 p.m. and 5A boys at 2:45 p.m.
The LHSAA swimming championships start at 10 a.m. Wednesday with preliminary races in Division IV. Division III prelims follow at 4 p.m. The Division IV finals start at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, followed by the Division III finals at 3 p.m.
Prelims for Division II kicks off the second portion of the four-day meet at 10 a.m. Friday. Division I prelims are set for 4 p.m. Saturday’s finals for Division II are set for 9:30 a.m. with the Division I finals scheduled for 4 p.m.
All-district teams needed

The deadline to submit volleyball all-district games is No. 24. The deadline for football all-district football teams is No. 26.
All-district teams in football must be submitted by the deadline in order for players to be considered for Louisiana Sports Writers Association All-State teams.
A number of local/area athletes are scheduled to sign with colleges as the NCAA’s early signing period continues this week.
St. Michael boys basketball player Jacob Evans and Live Oak baseball player Lenni Kunert help lead this week’s list of signees.
Kunert, who originally committed to LSU, is set to sign with Wichita State at the school Monday. Kunert helped lead the Eagles to the Class 5A title game last spring.
Evans, considered by many to be the No. 2 senior recruit in Louisiana, is scheduled to sign with Cincinnati at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Catholic High golfer Triston Elston is scheduled to sign with University of Louisiana at Lafayette at 12:15 p.m. Monday in the principal’s office, Elston is ranked 103rd national among junior boys golfers 17-and-under. He is set to compete in Louisiana Junior Cup in Squire Creek located in Choudrant next month.
Also, Plaquemine softball player Kameryn Fairchild is set to sign with Southeastern Louisiana University at 9 a.m. on Tuesday in the school library.
