Capers-Smith completed 19 of 28 passes for 424 yards to lead top-ranked Warren Easton to a 59-14 victory over West Jefferson. He also rushed 12 times for 66 yards. He threw touchdown passes of 51, 37, 25, 19, 14 and 48 yards and rushed for touchdowns of 20 and 19 yards.
He is verbally committed to Texas A&M.
“Deshawn is what makes us go,” Easton coach Tony Hull said. “He is our engine and he carries this team.”
Easton, ranked No. 1 in The New Orleans Advocate Large School Super 10 and No. 1 in the LSWA Class 4A rankings, plays Carver on Friday.
The junior standout led her team to a pair of impressive victories last week. In a huge match against ranked Newman, Olsonoski scored 35 kills, had 38 digs, four blocks and an ace to lead the Falcons to a 25-16, 20-25, 25-17, 15-25, 15-6 victory. She also had 23 kills, 22 digs and five blocks in a three-game sweep of Lusher Charter. “She was very impressive,” Falcons coach Jodee Pulizzano said. “She kind of took control of the match and we haven’t had someone to do that at Franklin in a while.”
