PLAQUEMINE — Tyler Wesley ran for 104 yards on eight carries and Austin Mitchell accounted for two touchdowns as Plaquemine beat White Castle 14-0 in the Plaquemine Jamboree on Friday night at PHS’ Canova Stadium.

Mitchell completed 3 of 8 passes for 24 yards, including a 10-yard TD pass to Michael Sproles. He also scored on a short run for the Class 4A Green Devils.

Dontrell Taylor led 1A White Castle with 64 yards on 10 carries.

Daniel Edwards contributed 48 yards on eight carries for the Bulldogs.

WALKER 56, KIPP RENAISSANCE 0: In Walker, Terry Bozeman completed 7 of 9 passes for 142 yards and three TDs for the host Wildcats.

Jalen Hills contributed 67 rushing yards on eight carries and scored two TDs.

Jacob Kennedy caught three passes for 72 yards and scored one touchdown for Class 5A Walker in its matchup with 3A KIPP.

ASCENSION CATHOLIC 32, HOUMA CHRISTIAN 0: In Donaldsonville, Kaleb Winchester scored three TDs and accounted for 105 total yards to pace Ascension Catholic in a battle of 1A teams.

Winchester scored on an 81-yard run and also caught two TD passes from DC Mattingly. Mattingly completed 7 of 11 passes for 71 yards and also ran for 49 yards on six carries and scored one TD.

Prep notables

LSU linebacker Kendell Beckwith got a little more than he bargained for when he came to see his alma mater, East Feliciana, play McKinley at the EBR at Broadmoor jamboree Friday night.

The Tigers won 20-19 and Beckwith got to watch his younger brother, Justin, race through the McKinley secondary to score on a 73-yard scoring pass from Kavon Moore.

The Baton Rouge Area Football Officials Association will start the season with four female officials.

BRAFOA President Marlon Harrison said Shanise Foster, Brianna Thompson, Stevie Ellis and Meleka Taylor are the female members who worked jamborees last week. Harrison offered praise for the group.

Former Capitol and Belaire football coach Keith Woods was on the sidelines with his new team, Madison Prep, during Friday’s East Baton Rouge Parish Kickoff Classic Jamboree at Broadmoor Friday night.

Host McKinley and Tara split their volleyball jamboree sets late Wednesday night at the McKinley Jamboree. McKinley won the first set 25-12, while Tara won the second 25-22.
