When Zachary High advanced to the Class 5A semifinals a year ago, expectations for added exposure this season skyrocketed.

Now that exposure will take on national proportions. ZHS coach David Brewerton announced that the Broncos’ Sept. 25 game with Calvary Baptist in Shreveport has been picked up by ESPN. The broadcast is set for 7 p.m. Sept. 25 on ESPNU.

“This is huge for our program,” Brewerton said. “Just to be able to get that national exposure and to start a relationship with ESPN means a lot for our program moving forward.

“It was in the works since February. Calvary contacted us and said they had been working with ESPN to do a game and they were trying to decide on an opponent.”

Calvary, now a Class 2A school, won the past two Division III select state titles. Zachary lost to eventual 5A champion Acadiana in the semifinals.
