PLAQUEMINE — Davante Williams and Hunter Schnelbelen combined for 362 rushing yards to help St. John run away from Opelousas Catholic in a nondistrict game played Thursday night.

Williams ran for 216 yards on 22 carries and scored one touchdown, while Schnelbelen added 146 yards on 13 carries with three TDs. Schnelbelen also threw a TD pass for the Eagles (2-1).

St. John, of District 9-1A, scored five straight TDs in the second and third quarters to break the game wide open. Center Chris Bordelon and guard Dakota Richard helped pave the way for the SJ offense. Williams scored on a 65-yard run; Schnelbelen had TD runs of 61, 1 and 27 yards. Kaleb Campesi added TD runs of 1 and 4 yards for the winners.

John Morgan Romig (9 tackles) and Cody Guillory (5 tackles) led the St. John defense.

ACADIANA 35, NEW IBERIA 7: In New Iberia, Jeff Brown ran for 173 yards on 22 carries and scored three touchdowns to boost fourth-ranked Acadiana (2-1) to a nondistrict win over New Iberia Senior High.

Brown had scoring runs of 1, 62 and 31 yards for the Wreckin’ Rams, the defending Class 5A state champions. Keith Sonnier added 114 yards on 14 carries for the winners. Stryker Trahan, who had 55 yards on 10 carries, scored the other AHS touchdown on a 4-yard run.

Javonte Jones completed 20 of 30 passes for 197 yards to help lead New Iberia.

KINDER 27, OAKDALE 6: In Oakdale, Marshall Harmon ran for 196 yards on 31 carries and scored three TDs to boost Kinder to victory.

Harmon had scoring runs of 1, 5 and 2 yards. Damian Ward scored the lone TD for Oakdale, catching a 79-yard pass from Reggie Philson.
