PLAQUEMINE - Christian Primeaux ran for 193 yards, three touchdowns and two two-point conversions and St. John of Plaquemine blazed to a 53-6 victory over Ascension Catholic of Donaldsonville in a District 9-1A opener Thursday night.

DaVanté Williams added 116 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries for St. John, while also running for a two-point conversion. And Hunter Schnebelen had two touchdowns -- both from a yard out -- and 87 yards on 14 carries as well as a two-point conversion as St. John (4-1, 1-0 9-1A) rolled up 417 yards on the ground and 507 yards total.

Primeaux, who had 18 carries, scored on two 5-yard runs and then bolted for a 69-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Williams’ TD runs covered 4 and 1 yards.

The Eagles, who scored in all four quarters, totaled 31 points in the second quarter.

For ACHS (0-6, 0-1), Collin Rowland went 18-for-37 for 220 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown pass to Jake LeJeune in the second quarter, and two interceptions.

In the second quarter, Zach Fleming hit a 20-yard field goal and Gary Roberts threw a pair of touchdown passes - 22 yards to David Provost and 8 to Simeon Theopile, who also caught a 10-yard scoring pass in the third quarter.

Zach Gibbons, who led Highland in rushing with 77 yards on 23 carries, scored his team’s other TD on a 15-yard run.

Scoring for CHEF were Kevonta London on a 65-yard run in the second quarter and Sam Posze on a 22-yard pass from Clay Cornelius in the fourth.
