LAKE CHARLES (AP)—North Caddo defeated Pickering, 55-49 to capture the 2015 Allstate Sugar Bowl LHSAA Class 2A State Championship Saturday afternoon in Lake Charles.

Repeating as Class 2A State Champions, North Caddo (21-11) was led by Keyarrea Easter’s game-high 22 points and seven rebounds. Jasmine Thomas added 18 points and 11 rebounds and Sumer Williams had 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Trailing 22-21 coming out of the halftime locker room, the story of the third quarter was Jasmine Thomas. The junior guard who came into the game as the leading scorer for North Caddo, Thomas single-handily outscored Pickering 11-0 the final 4:27 of the third quarter to give the Rebels a commanding 36-27 lead.

Pickering would get as close as 46-45 with under two minutes left in the game, but could never take the lead.

A game of runs in the first half, North Caddo finished the opening quarter on a 10-2 run en route to a 16-10 lead after the first eight minutes. Pickering answered with a 12-0 run to open their second quarter and grab a 22-16 lead. Amy McKellar paced the Devils with seven of the 12 points in the run and led Pickering with 10 first-half points.

The Devils held a 22-21 lead at the half.

Playing in the school’s first-ever state championship game, Pickering (26-5) was led by McKellar’s 15 points and five rebounds. Terrinisha Mosley added 11 points, six rebounds and six assists.
