Silliman Institute shut out Leake Academy 6-0 to win the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools overall Class 3A softball title on Saturday in Clinton.

The Wildcats (37-5) were led by Kennedy Carruth, who tossed a six-hit shutout and finished 2-for-3 at the plate. Mary Morris also was 2-for-3, while Allie Delee contributed a two-run home run for Silliman. SI swept the best-of-three games series 2-0.

Carruth helped lead the group of five Wildcats named to the MAIS 3A all-tournament team. She was 5-0 in tourney play and had a .333 batting average. Kayla McNabb (.500 batting average, eight runs), Delee (two home runs, .444), Morris (.421, six RBIs, five runs) and Callie Venable (seven runs, six RBIs) were the other all-tourney choices.
