Boys swimming

Jack Penniman, Baton Rouge High

Penniman was a double winner who helped set the pace for the Bulldogs, who won the boys divisions at one of two Capital City Swim League meets Saturday. He won the 50-yard freestyle in 23.75 seconds and completed the sprint sweep with a win in the 100 freestyle in 51.77.

“I was happy with my times and how the team did,” Penniman said. “My 50 time was good, but the 100 was the better of the two. I had to come from behind and won it at the end. That was a (personal) best time in the 100. I’m looking forward to the City Meet (Capital City Swim League Championships) coming up.”

Girls swimming

Jolee Liles, Parkview Baptist

Liles helped PBS win the girls division at one of two Capital City Swim League meets Saturday by winning two individual events. She helped open the meet by winning the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes, 3.87 seconds and later won the 500 freestyle in 5:12.98 for the Eagles.

“It was only my second meet because of injury and illness, and I thought it was a pretty good one,” Liles said. “My time in the 500 could have been a little better. It was the same with the team. We may not have all been hitting our marks, time-wise, but I think we’re improving and I like the way were supporting each other.”
