The Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s executive committee will hear appeals of two recent rulings on Wednesday afternoon.
A combined appeal for Bastrop High and Carroll High is set for approximately 2:30 p.m. after a regularly scheduled hardship committee meeting.
Another appeal, this one by Lafayette’s Northside High, will follow.
Bastrop and Carroll are appealing the sanctions from last week’s sportsmanship hearing held in Monroe. The two schools were involved in an altercation in the third quarter of their nondistrict game on Oct. 14, forcing contest officials to stop the game.
At last Thursday’s hearing, the sportsmanship committee voted to ban both teams from the football postseason after neither school cited players or coaches who were involved in the fight.
Northside will appeal a ruling that requires the school to forfeit all five of its football wins because of an ineligible player.
Woodlawn High is hosting its third Tailgate Throwdown at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the school.
Sampler plates will be sold from a tailgate food competition. Several local restaurants will also participate. Amusement park rides will also be on site.
There will be entertainment from a local band on a main stage up until kickoff of Woodlawn’s District 5-5A game with McKinley at 7 p.m.
Woodlawn’s cheerleaders, band, Pantherettes and members of the homecoming court will also participate.
