Third-seeded Scotlandville broke open a close game with a 19-point third-quarter burst, and the homestanding Hornets went on to defeat No. 14 Alexandria 50-39 in Class 5A regional action Tuesday night.

Scotlandville (30-4) led 20-17 at halftime but stretched its advantage to 39-25 entering the fourth. LaMarcus Lee scored a game-high 15 for Scotlandville, which also got 12 from Jordan Adebuto.

Alexandria (24-9) got 13 from Jordan Hunt and another 8, including two 3-pointers, from Dillon Metoyer.

SOUTHERN LAB 59, DELHI 46: No. 9 seed Southern Lab kept Delhi at arm’s length throughout its Class 1A regional round playoff win over No. 8 Delhi.

The Kittens (22-7) led 39-32 after three quarters and pulled away in the fourth. Dexter Dennis (12 points) and Bladrick Veal (10) keyed the Lab offense. Asante Griffin scored 22 for the Bears.

MANY 42, NORTHEAST 38: No. 10 seedd Many (20-6) outscored No. 23 Northeast (15-15) 16-12 in the fourth quarter, breaking a 26-26 tie in the Class 2A regionals.

Tabarius Garner led the Tigers with 12 points, while Rickey Woods had 11. Northeast got 11 apiece from Eric Williams and Torrence Uwagboe. Williams and Blakes each made three 3-pointers.

UNIVERSITY HIGH 89, MADISON PARISH 48: D.J. White led five players in double figures with 31 points as top-seeded U-High crushed No. 16 Madison Parish.

Class 3A’s U-High (30-3) led 45-17 at halftime and cruised in the second half. Also in double figures were Skylar Mays (16), John Jones (13), Wayde Sims (11) and Jalen Johnson (10). Cameron Walls topped Madison with 24.

JEHOVAH-JIREH 56, REEVES 42: At Reeves, Donald Johnson III scored 22 points to lead No. 10 Jehovah-Jireh past No. 7 Reeves.

Johnson was on the mark from long range, making four 3-pointers. Reeves, which was topped by Travis Schultz’s 23, trailed in the Class C contest 27-14 at halftime.

RUNNELS 73, ARCHBISHOP HANNAN 65: No. 8 seed Runnels turned the tables on No. 9 Hannan after trailing 38-30 at halftime.

The Raiders (20-11) trailed by a point entering the fourth quarter, when they outscored Hannan 25-16 to close out the Class 2A regional game.

Grant Welch scored 27 points and made four of Runnels’ eight 3-pointers. Welch got help from Hampton Hudson (17) and Josh Sparks (15). Noah Griffin and Daniel Hollander each scored 19 to lead Hannan.
