Jaylen Williams ran for a two-point conversion in overtime, lifting Tara to a 26-24 victory over Belaire in a District 6-4A opener played Friday night at Olympia Stadium.

The game-winning two-point conversion followed Corey Williams’ 3-yard touchdown run that tied the game at 24. Belaire took the lead when its quarterback Tyler Woods scored on a 1-yard run in overtime.

With the win, Tara moves to 3-3 and 1-0. Belaire is 2-4, 0-1.

“We were down 12 with eight minutes to go,” Tara coach Cooter Mansur said. “We never felt like we were out of it. The last two drives we had went just like you draw them up.”

Running back Leonard Williams, receiver Da’Monte Coxie and quarterback JuJuante Jackson led the way for the Trojans. Jackson completed 12 of 23 passes for 163 and two TDs. Coxie caught eight passes for 121 yards and a TD, while Leonard Williams ran for 78 yards on 17 carries.

Jackson tossed two fourth-quarter TD passes to rally the Trojans. First, he connected with Patrick Arnold on a 20-yard scoring play. Coxie caught a 21-yard TD pass from Jackson that sent the game to overtime. Woods scored two TDs to help pace Belaire.

WEST FELICIANA 38, GLEN OAKS 0: West Feliciana jumped out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead, thanks to two touchdowns by Ryan Reed and went on to shut out winless GOHS in District 7-3A action.

The Saints (5-1, 1-1) compiled 364 yards and held Glen Oaks (0-6, 0-2) to only 45.

Reed rushed for 16 and 36 yards for his two scores and finished with 132 yards on seven attempts.

Desmond Wilson and Jazz Ferguson added one rushing TD apiece, and Lorenzo Green returned an interception 42 yards for a score. Ferguson had 82 rushing yards on 8 attempts.

Chris Palm kicked five PATs and capped off the scoring with a 38-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

UNIVERSITY ACADEMY 36, CHRISTIAN HOME EDUCATORS FELLOWSHIP 24: CHEF jumped out to a 16-0 lead after one quarter, but University Academy outscored CHEF 22-6 in the second half.

CHEF built up its 16-0 lead on a Tyler Dixon 7-yard run, Alexander Aucoin’s 45-yard interception return and a pair of two-point conversions.

UA scored first on a 9-yard pass from Peyton Gauthier to Tyrie Eli. CHEF answered with a 25-yard pass from Arek Moslander to Timothy Costa to make it 24-8. Eli added three TD runs, two in the second half. Eli rushed five times for 31 yards and Zach Rhone added 45 yards on six carries.

Dixon had 13 carries for 37 yards. Arek Moslander paases for 113 yards and rushed for 26.
