36 Teurlings Catholic pulled off the unlikeliest of rallies midway through the third quarter of its stunning 56-46 win against previously unbeaten St. Thomas More. The Rebels scored 36 unanswered points before the Cougars knew what hit them, taking the lead on the second play of the fourth quarter. Teurlings was fortunate on a couple of the plays: One sure interception instead bounced off an STM defender in the air, where it was hauled in by Rebels running back Sage LeBlanc for an 80-yard touchdown, and a botched snap on a Cougar punt led to an easy score near the end of the third quarter, but the Rebels still had to capitalize on those mistakes, which they did.

51.6 How’s that for a per-game scoring average? After blanking Westminster 61-0, Catholic-New Iberia just barely improved its scoring average on the season. The high octane Panthers attack will get a big test this Friday against an undefeated Opelousas Catholic team that has only allowed more than a touchdown to two teams this season.

355 Carencro quarterback Tyler Gaspard had a huge day at the office Friday against Sam Houston, throwing for a school-record 355 yards. Gaspard also added four touchdowns on the evening. He wasn’t the only prep quarterback to have a huge day.

408 Cole Kelley of Teurlings just kept throwing the ball. He didn’t have the best game of his young career, but his coaches stuck with him and he never lost confidence. It paid off. Kelley finished with 408 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air. He also scored the first of many, many touchdowns in the Rebels’ 56-46 win on a short run in the first quarter.
