Chris Middleton accounted for 200 yards of total offense while leading Ascension Christian to a 28-27 victory over Houma Christian on Friday night.

Middleton ran for 96 yards on 15 carries and scored two TDs in the game played at ACH in Gonzales. He also completed 14 of 27 passes for 104 yards in the nondistrict game between Class 1A teams.

Ultimately, the game came down a missed two-point conversion. HCA quarterback Damien Pennison’s 10-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter made it 28-27. The Warriors (1-4) opted to go for two points and run failed.

Pennison completed 15 of 28 passes for 230 yards and three TDs for HCA. Effrem Moore (30 carries, 131 yards, one TD) and Devin Battaglia (eight catches, 162 yards, one TD were other Warriors leaders.

Middleton had scoring run of 1 and 6 yards for Ascension Christian (3-2), Ricky Martinez caught a 61-yard TD pass from running back Brye Templet for the Lions.

LUTCHER 64, KIPP RENAISSANCE 8: In Lutcher, the sixth-ranked Bulldogs (4-1, 2-0) raced out to a 36-0 halftime lead in District 9-3A action.

Destin Porter ran for 102 yards on five carries for LHS. He also returned a punt 53 yards for a TD and also caught three TD passes from Jontre Kirklin to help the Bulldogs build their lead.

Kirklin completed 7 of 12 passes for 88 yards and five TDs. Kirklin also ran for 46 yards on two carries and scored a TD.

PINE PRAIRIE 28, TARA 6: Pine Prairie (3-2) of Class 3A never relinquished an early 14-0 lead in the nondistrict game played at Scotlandville High.

Dylan Doucet ran for all four TDs for PPHS. Doucet’s first score came on a 37-yard run.

Patrick Arnold scored the only TD for Class 4A Tara (0-5) on an 8-yard run.
