PLAQUEMINE - Christian Primeaux rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns as St. John of Plaquemine shut out Ascension Christian 59-0 in high school football action Thursday night.

Primeaux, who averaged 13.73 yards per carry, scored on runs of 70 and 54 yards to stake the Eagles to a 17-0 lead after one quarter.

DaVante Williams, who had 121 yards on 14 carries, added scoring runs of 10 and 30 yards for St. John (7-3, 4-1 in District 9-1A).

Leading 31-0 at the half, the Eagles added TD runs of 1 and 60 yards by Kaleb Campesi (103 yards on seven carries) and got a 35-yard interception return for a TD by Ben Porrier.

Andrew Baldwin’s 32-yard run capped the scoring for the Eagles, who remained one game behind 9-1A leader West St. John (7-2, 4-0). The Rams host East Iberville on Friday night.

Ascension Christian (0-10, 0-5) had 76 total yards.

TERREBONNE 42, ISTROUMA 12: In Houma, Tigers quarterback Kendrick Boudreaux completed 9 of 10 passes for 195 yards and four touchdowns in the nondistrict game.

Justin Williams had four catches for 66 yards and two TDs for Terrebonne (5-5), which rolled up 462 total yards.

Robert Gordon led the Tigers’ rushing attack with 153 yards on 12 carries and one TD.

Marquise Kaigler completed 13 of 20 passes for 178 yards and one TD for Istrouma (0-10). Kaigler, who accounted for 271 of Istrouma’s 381 yards, also rushed 15 times for 93 yards and a TD.


BELAIRE 3, CENTRAL 2: The 20th-seeded Bengals advanced in the Division II playoffs with a 25-22, 26-24, 8-25, 22-25, 15-7 victory over the 13th-seeded Wildcats.

Terriel Reado led Belaire (24-15) with 21 kills, 8 digs, 4 aces and 8 assists. Christian Jones added 10 kills 6 blocks and 4 aces, while Junita Christmas chipped in nine aces and 12 digs.

Belaire has a second-round match against at O.Perry Walker at 6 p.m. Monday.

SAM HOUSTON 3, MCKINLEY 1: The 18th-seeded Broncos of topped the homestanding Panthers, 25-16, 22-25, 25-10, 27-25 in a Division II first-round match.

Alli Fields had 12 kills, while Taylor Edwards added 9 for the winners. McKinley was led by Tyroneshia Howard with 20 kills, 2 aces, 9 digs and two blocks. Amber Bennett added 12 kills, 30 assists and 9 digs for 15th-seeded McKinley.

BROADMOOR 3, SOUTH TERREBONNE 0: The ninth-seeded Buccaneers cruised to a 25-17, 25-22, 25-18 victory over the 24th-seeded Gators from Bourg.

Broadmoor (30-12) was led by Kiersten Gillette by 12 kills and 10 digs. Royneecia Abbott had 10 kills and 10 digs while Anisha Spencer added 24 assists to the winning effort.

South Terrebonne (11-20) was led by Julia LeBlanc with 8 kills. Megan Trosclair added four kills for STHS.
