Sunday’s American Legion state tournament game between Jesuit-based Retif Oil and the Lafayette-based Delhomme Drillers at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium was suspended in the sixth inning because of rain and thunder in the area.
Retif, the tournament’s No. 1 seed, led 5-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning with Delhomme due up to bat. The game will resume from that point at 11 a.m. Monday.
The winner of Sunday’s game advances to play Ascension Parish-based Gauthier & Amedee at 7:30 p.m. Monday, with the loser moving on to an elimination game against Brother Martin-based Peake BMW at 4 p.m. Monday.
Retif second baseman Brandon Briuglio led all hitters through six innings, going 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and a run.
