The LHSAA announced Wednesday morning Northlake Christian’s football program is put on probation until September 2016 and faces a $50 fine for the use of an ineligible football player.
According to the LHSAA, Northlake Christian violated Rule 1.7 of the LHSAA handbook. The school self-reported the violation and faces a total financial penalty of $50 and is on probation until Sept. 17, 2016.
LHSAA officials also required the administration of Northlake Christian to have coach Anthony Agrestaattend the LHSAA Handbook Certification class or enroll, complete and pass the LHSAA/NFHS Online Fundamentals of Coaching.
Also serving as the school’s athletic director, Agresta said the student-athlete in question was a transfer student who unbeknownst to school officials had used up his eight consecutive semesters of eligibility before his arrival at Northlake Christian for the start of his senior year. Discovering the error after the team’s scrimmage, Agresta and school officials immediately reported the violation to the LHSAA.
