LUTCHER — Jontre Kirklin threw four touchdown passes and ran for one TD as eighth-ranked Lutcher remained undefeated with a 42-28 nondistrict victory over West Jefferson on Friday.
Kirklin completed 14 of 28 passes for 302 yards and had just one interception. He also ran for 73 yards on 16 carries. Al’Dontre Davis was one of four LHS receivers to catch a TD pass and finished with a team-high four catches for 139 yards.
Kendrick Jackson scored on a 1-yard run and a 55-yard pass from Kirklin. Jackson added 65 yards on 11 carries.
Kevin Crayton and David Carter each scored two touchdowns apiece for the Buccaneers (0-3). Crayton returned a punt 93 yards for a TD in the third quarter. West Jefferson quarterback Coley Ransaw completed 21 passes for 249 yards. Bruce Houston caught six passes for 104 yards for the Bucs.
NORTHEAST 8, TARA 6: Class 2A Northeast extended its record to 3-0 after edging Class 4A Tara in a nondistrict game played at Glen Oaks.
Darryl Adams scored the Vikings’ TD, and rushed only twice for 50 yards, as Northeast outgained Tara 220 to 125 on the ground.
Leonard Williams rushed for 114 of Tara’s 125 total rushing yards and scored the Trojans’ TD. Tara (1-2) attempted a two-point conversion after its TD, but failed.
MADISON PREP 48, REDEMPTORIST 0: Charrod Brumfield and Quincy Banks led the way for Class 1A MPA (2-1) in the game played Friday at Redemptorist.
Brumfield completed 10 of 20 passes for 150 yards and four TDs for the Chargers. He tossed TD passes to Otis Dunmars, Malcolm Roach, Lyndon Rash and Brian Savoy. Savoy led all MPA receivers with two catches for 48 yards.
Banks finished with 121 yards on 11 carries and scored his first TD of the season. Class 2A Redemptorist falls to 0-3.
CHEF 46, ACADIANA HOME SCHOOL 14: Tyler Dixon and quarterback Arek Moslander combined for over 100 rushing yards as Christian Home Educator’s Fellowship won its ACEL opener Thursday in Lafayette.
Dixon finished with 81 yards on five carries, including a 44-yard TD run. Moslander added 46 yards on six carries and scored on TD runs of 13 and 20 yards. Moslander also completed 3 of 4 passes for 42 yards and a 36-yard TD pass to Spencer Costa.
Jesse Davis led the Patriots on defense with six tackles, including four solos. Andrew Hyde and Moslander each had five tackles.
