Caddo Parish schools get reprieve, will not receive playoff bans _lowres



LAKE CHARLES — Capturing their first state championship since 1968, top-seeded Summerfield Lady Rebels defeated No. 2 Pleasant Hill, 31-26 in overtime in the 2015 Allstate Sugar Bowl LHSAA Class C Girls State Championship Friday afternoon in Lake Charles

Summerfield (30-6) was led by Nicole Bursey who finished with a game-high 19 points. Sharneshia Levingston finished the game with nine points.

The Lady Eagles were led by Samiah Scott’s 12 points.

Bursey was the story of the extra period, scoring the first six points of the period, giving Summerfield a 27-21 advantage.

With under a minute left tied 21-21 in regulation, Smith’s shot at the buzzer fell short, sending the game to overtime.
