There’s been a change of venue for Madison Prep’s chance to make history.
The seventh-ranked Chargers (9-0, 6-0) will host Christian Life (5-4, 2-4) at Glen Oaks High School at 7 p.m. Friday. The game was originally scheduled for Memorial Stadium.
A win would wrap up an outright District 6-2A title for MPA.
It would also clinch the first unbeaten football regular season for the Chargers, who also are the lone undefeated football team left in the Baton Rouge High.
“(The game change) was confirmed for me by our administration this morning (Monday),” MPA coach Michael Roach said.
No polls changes
It was status quo for Baton Rouge’s teams ranked in the Louisiana Sports Writers Association polls going into Week 10.
University High (8-1) has won eight straight and is again the No. 1 team in Class 3A after an upset bid by Brusly.
The Cubs are the area’s only No. 1 team.
Lutcher (8-1) is third in Class 3A and Southern Lab (6-2) is still ranked fourth in 1A.
Zachary remains sixth in Class 5A and is the only local team in the top 10. Scotlandville is just outside the top 10. Parkview is ranked sixth in 3A, while Madison Prep is No. 7 in 2A.
No BR area team is ranked in 4A top 10.
Plaquemine (6-3) sits just outside the top 10.
Denham Springs quarterback Torez Kinchen is listed as day-to-day going into Friday’s District 4-5A game at Scotlandville.
Kinchen was injured in the Yellow Jackets’ 19-7 win over Walker. The injury was first thought to be a broken collarbone.
