By the numbers: Bell ran for 232 yards and two touchdowns for the Buffaloes in their Week 5 loss to Port Allen High.
What the numbers mean: Bell and the revamped BHS offense gave Port Allen fits, but eventually lost 22-21 in a District 7-3A game. He carried the ball 31 times and did not fumble.
Baker coach Richard Oliver said: “We’ve made some changes to our offense that mean we’re going to be running the ball well. We want to take advantage of the large line we have. We told Preston he’d get more carries, and he responded to that, and so did our line.”
Central, Middle blocker
By the numbers: Wilson finished the week with 32 kills and 9.5 blocks, including 12 kills against Tara and 4.5 blocks vs. Belaire in Division II, District 2 action.
What the numbers mean: Wilson is a senior who is starting in the middle for first time after playing an outside hitter’s role previously. The fact that she had no less than 10 kills in the Central’s games last week proves what a consistent threat she has become in the middle.
Central coach Michele LeBouef said: “Brandy played on the outside for us before and she’s adapted real well to the faster flow and pace of the offense in the middle. It suits her well. Last week we also had to call on her to play some on the back row and she picked a couple of aces and digs.”
