MENDENHALL, Miss. — Zach Kelly rolled up 299 yards of total offense while leading Silliman Institute to a 27-0 victory over defending Class 2A champion Simpson Academy in Mississippi Association of Independent Schools nondistrict regular-season action Friday night.

Kelly ran for 92 yards on 14 carries and completed 7-of-13 passes for 207 yards while accounting for four touchdowns as the Wildcats (1-1) upended a Simpson squad that was ranked second in the most recent MAIS 2A poll.

Caleb Jackson caught four passes for 128 yards and one TD, a 69-yard scoring strike from Kelly. Keon Brown caught TD passes of 71 and 7 yards from Kelly. Keifer Bourgeois and Will Douglas each had an interception to lead a Silliman defense that limited Simpson (1-1) to 189 yards.

CENTRAL PRIVATE 22, CHEF 6: Trenton Guay completed 5-of-9 passes for 126 yards and one TD as Central Private (1-1) gave coach Joey Sanchez his first varsity win as a head football coach in other nondistrict regular-season action.

Christian Home Educators Fellowship scored first on a 1-yard run by quarterback Arek Moslander.

Johnny Duncan tied the score for the Rebels with a 2-yard TD run.

Guay’s 37-yard TD pass to Cole Averette and a two-point conversion run by Duncan gave CPS the lead for good.

Austin Slater completed the scoring with a 12-yard TD run. Duncan ran for a second two-point PAT. Averette caught three passes for 47 yards for the Rebels.

CATHOLIC-POINTE COUPEE 34, SCI ACADEMY 0: Landon LeMay ran for 99 yards on just five carries and scored two TDs to help lead CHSPC to victory at Friday’s Redemptorist Jamboree.

LeMay scored on runs of 15 and 8 yards for the Class 1A Hornets.

Gabe Vandegrift scored on a 2-yard run, while Jacob Juge caught a 10-yard scoring pass for Jonas Guichet.

Lucas Patin recovered a fumble for another TD to close out the shutout for CHSPC.

ST. JOHN 13, REDEMPTORIST 6: Gavin Landry scored on a 3-yard run in the second half to give St. John-Plaquemine its win over host RHS at the Redemptorist Jamboree.

The Class 1A Eagles scored first by recovering a blocked punt in the end zone. Brandon Noel’s PAT made it 7-0. Class 2A Redemptorist got within one point when Kaleb Battle scored on a 2-yard run later in the first half.

Landry’s TD was the only scoring in the second half. Bo Dearman led St. John with six carries for 33 rushing yards. Collin Crockett caught two passes for 30 yards for the winners.

Michael Williams completed 6-of-15 passes for 68 yards for RHS, while Battle finished with 44 rushing yards on three carries.
